Launched in 2006, Videojug.com defined the online video ‘How-To’ sector and now drives a monthly audience of over 5m unique users worldwide from its leading library of professional how-to films. Our large in house production teams currently turn out 180 high-quality professional videos a week, with plans to scale up a significant amount more. We manage leading partner channels on YouTube, now with 100,000 subscribers and our video ‘how to moon walk’ is the 32nd most viewed video of all time, with 22M views. We syndicate our content around the world; we have new iPhone and iPad apps and have just launching a groundbreaking new publishing platform for experts to monetize their knowledge directly. Video is the fastest-growing online sector and our reputation as experts in the field also supports a thriving business in brand video production for a host of blue chip clients. About the Role

Our core systems are written in C# on the Microsoft .Net platform using MsSQL Server database. We also make extensive use of AJAX/client side technologies and serviced based architecture where possible. In addition to this we have a new self-publishing product written in Ruby on Rails. New ventures will be approached in MVC 2.0 using C# 4.0. As a policy our codebase and practices are kept as as up to date as possible, currently switching development to Visual Studio 2010.

The Development Team is currently comprised of four developers with a mix of .NET and Ruby skills. The development team works directly alongside in house Design teams and has its own Product Manager. The Team touch all areas of the business, primarily focusing on the front end but developing and maintaining systems from title generation and our internal compression cluster, right through to APIs, publishing platforms and the sizable final front facing web product

As areas of the business expand we are looking for an energetic, motivated and passionate developer to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovative team at a leading media/publishing company with technology at its core.

Skills & Experience

Required

• At least 18 months ASP.NET experience
• Solid knowledge of C# 3.5+ and SQL Server 2005+
• Strong Front End/JavaScript with exposure to JQuery and cross browser CSS 2.1+ practices
• Experience of SEO best practices and a clear understanding of the importance of semantic mark-up
• Ability to design/develop/utilise data within an API/Service orientated structure
• Strong understanding of effective product development in a consumer internet business
• A pragmatic, multi-tasking problem solver, hands-on with highly effective prioritisation skills
• Understanding of the DRY principle and the importance of abstraction

Desired

• Experience with TDD/BDD development
• Experience and knowledge of NHibernate or other production ORM systems
• An understanding of Agile processes and Sprint methodology
• Working knowledge of MVC.NET 2.0+
• Willing to work occasional long hours to meet deadline and out of hours technical events
• Understanding of web standards, MRSS, RSS, XHTML, JSON a plus.
