We are offering the right applicant a chance to take on the technical leadership for an early-stage web start-up. 

 

Our company is established, the first stage of the product launched in November and since then we have received a lot of positive press attention and an offer of investment from a leading industry player. Now we are searching for the right person to become an integral part of the company and help push us to the next level to realise our vision to change the way new cars are acquired and bring the benefits of on-line interaction, on-line communities and to leverage price competition to facilitate transactions between consumers and vehicle providers.  


Location          

The founders are located in London, but this role can initially be undertaken remotely with regular daily multimedia interaction and regular in person meet-ups.


Position summary

We are seeking an extraordinary open source Developer with a passion for developing compelling web experiences for consumers and businesses and has experience of working with SQL databases and interfacing with third party business systems.

 

The Developer will work with the founders and advisors to formulate and articulate the vision for this on-line marketplace through developing an overall systems design; recommending implementation approaches; recommending implementation technologies and COTS where appropriate; and has the responsibility for constructing key system components and interfaces initially for the web (but not excluding mobile and social media platforms).

 

The Developer is required to prototype concepts and work with the founders and advisors to conclude on the preferred approach.


This is a key role for the business and success will be rewarded with industry recognition and business equity.

 

Over time, the Lead Developer will be required to recruit additional skill into the team, assign responsibilities, co-ordinate activities across team members and lead the team.


Responsibilities

  • Working with the Founders and Advisors to formulate and agree product designs for global consumption, and deployment on a single platform.
  • Recommending technologies, platforms, implementation approaches and software systems to implement and maintain existing systems. 
  • The overall integrated design and implementation of the carbuzz websites and systems
  • User interface design and/or taking guidance from external user experience specialists to build compelling user interfaces for consumers and business customers
  • Maintain an industry awareness of Search, Price comparison, e-tail and Social networking innovations successes/failures, and the potential applicability to CB websites]


Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified.  Computer Science or similar preferred
  • Open source technologies. At least 5 years use of Linux with PHP, Ruby, Python or Perl,
  • Open source database technologies: MySQL or PostgresSQL or similar
  • Web technologies: At least 5 years use of CSS, HTML, XML, Ajax, JavaScript
  • Experience of OO and SO design patterns, and implementation of patterns for commercial use.
  • Hosting technologies: Amazon or similar PaaS providers
  • Hosted Source code management and software release.
  • Experience in designing and implementing consumer web experiences
  • Experience of developing complex data storage systems that utilize open source database technologies.
  • Demonstrable experience and passion in usability and user centered website design
  • Experience of developing website information architectures
  • Familiarity with SoA, website development and the full software development cycle
  • Exceptional analytic skills
