LabMinds, a visionary technology company (Life Science Research Tools), is setting out to change the working habits of millions of career professionals worldwide.

 

We are looking for a highly self-driven and motivated technologist with strong leadership skills who will always go the extra mile for delivering quality work.

 

We have been seed funded by an early stage investment company, are currently raising funds for a Series A and are looking to develop our prototype into a shippable product.

 

As the Lead Software Architect  you will join the team at the helm of LabMinds and contribute to the overall direction and success of the company.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the CTO, you will be leading, architecting, and developing the platform as well as working closely with product managers.

 

This is a technical lead position, and about 20% of your time will be spent on architecture, designing, and coordinating with the team and 80% on coding.

 

You will be in charge of hiring and developing your team, which is expected to grow fast over the next 24 months.

Experience

  • Leadership experience in working with teams of 3 or greater.
  • Developed web applications with considerable security aspects to them
  • Knowledgeable with numerous frameworks and web technologies and their trade-offs
  • Proven experience in estimating, planning, designing, and implementing n-tier software architectures and solutions
  • Experience in start up environment or fast-moving, dynamic established software company

Skills

  • Software architect with a track record of developing scalable server side solutions using open source technologies (Node.JS, Ruby on Rails, C++)
  • Senior to expert programming skill level for at least one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, C++
  • Good understanding of State Machines
  • Excellent database skills – the system will manage enormous amounts of data if relatively few users and must scale well
  • Knowledge of browser technologies, desktop software architecture, mobile software architecture (not necessarily extensive coding, but sufficient understanding to manage)
  • Demonstrated ability to design, architect and develop commercial products/enterprise applications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • LOTS of energy
  • Experience with machine learning and remote monitoring/sensing (massive bonus)
  • Server management and administration skills (bonus)

Education

Computer Science Masters / PhD, or combination of exceptional ability and experience

 

Salary £45-55K + stock options, depending on ability, drive and motivation
