Role:

 

We are looking to recruit an experienced senior software engineer/programmer with exceptional programming skills and ability to work in an agile and fast moving development cycle. The role will include:

 

  • Working with a wide variety of systems
  • Handling fast-moving projects
  • Developing and maintaining new systems to cope with large volume of data
  • Analysing real-time data

 

 

Required skills:

 

The ideal candidate will have at least two major projects under their belt and a proven ability at developing innovate and high performance design solutions across various technical platforms.

 

  • A high level of technical ability in C/C++ and at least two other major programming languages, eg. C#, Java, PHP
  • A passion to learn and adapt to new technologies and find innovative solutions to difficult problems
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment
  • Advanced knowledge of programming techniques with a particular attention to algorithmic design
  • Code optimisation skills, in particular application performance and memory efficiency
  • An obsession with code quality
  • Good academic qualifications, preferably at degree level

 

 

Advantageous skills:

 

  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the Internet and the issues involved in developing real-time, high volume global systems running 24/7
  • Programming on the Linux platform
  • Understanding of networking, network programming and security principles
  • Experience of web technologies, eg. PHP, AS3
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages, eg. Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Advanced use of source control systems with large multi-branch projects
  • Strong understanding and/or experience of high-volume, distributed online data systems
