We are seeking an inspirational technical leader who can manage and grow a world-class development team while ensuring flawless delivery and technical innovation to fulfil our digital ambitions.  With a passion for building world class digital products and a deep understanding of the software development processes  and craft, you will utilise this by having excellent presence and the credibility to influence senior colleagues across the business.

 

The team has grown significantly and we now need a very experienced manager to allow us to scale the team and processes.

 

Principal Responsibilities will include:

•  Building a dynamic core web engineering team to enable robust, fast development and delivery.
• Providing TMG with digital leadership around the development of our current platform, our API and our mobile proposition as well as the leadership and vision in driving development of next-generation features, functions and solutions for existing and new platforms and services.
• Ensure a globally robust and highly scalable approach to development to support our growing number of global users and services.
• Guiding development of early stage platform product concepts and prototypes, utilising agile development methodologies for quick turnaround.
• Building relationships with digital technology industry leaders, providing thought leadership internally and externally. 
• Shaping the vision of TMG’s API, build out a global network of customers/users and craft our API strategy – both for internal and external use.
• Ensuring fast, dependable delivery of  T MG digital roadmap.
•  Embedding innovation and learning in the regular schedule of work.
• Inspirational leadership around process and technology

 

Specific skills and knowledge required include:

• Strong project/programme  management skills and the ability to manage to a budget and timeline.
• Strong leadership, in-depth technical, delivery, and communications skills with great business instincts and people skills.
• A demonstrable ability to inspire multi-disciplined teams to deliver results.
• Industry credibility and reputation.

 

You must have:

• Demonstrable experience in fast-paced development delivery – that balances frequency and very high quality product.
• Passionate about delivering good quality software.
• Demonstrably able to build a cohesive, high performing team and maintaining it.
• Experience with software design concepts, practices, modern development methodologies, particularly agile, CI/CD and common architectures.
• Previous large team management essential. Must have previously managed both developer and QA teams.
• The successful candidate is likely to be the engineering manager  or senior technical at a consumer facing digital company with project or programme management as skill. Ideally they would have both publishing and commerce experience on the web and mobile.
