Bravissimo is a dynamic, entrepreneurial company which, since its launch in 1995, has grown consistently year on year. We provide products for women with bigger boobs, and a service to inspire them to celebrate their curves and feel good about themselves. As a multi-channel retailer, we sell our products via the web, mail order and our 23 shops. We stock a wide range of lingerie and swimwear and have our own range of nightwear. We also have a clothing range, Pepperberry.

About the job

As a Web Developer, you will be part of Bravissimo’s small team of systems developers that maintains and develops its websites and line of business applications. This role is focussed on the Bravissimo and Pepperberry websites and their related systems - sophisticated and high-volume e-commerce sites with significant user functionality and high business criticality.

Working under the direction of a Senior Web Developer, your primary responsibility will be to support them in the day to day running of the websites, working with the design team and other colleagues as necessary. You will also quickly get involved in the development of new and existing features and projects. In time, and as your skills progress, there may also be opportunities to get involved with Bravissimo’s line of business web applications, and as a company which does much of its own development in-house, there are many.

Whilst development is based on the.NET stack, Bravissimo is open-minded and does not limit itself to Microsoft tools and frameworks – alongside .NET 4.0, ASP.NET MVC (and some WebForms for legacy purposes), EF Code First and SQL Server 2008, you can expect to use jQuery, KnockoutJS, Git, StructureMap, Lucene, ELMAH and any other tool we feel is the best for the job.

With this being an e-commerce site, you can also expect to be involved in areas such as mobile, credit card processing, 3D-secure, SEO, analytics and social networking, sometimes liaising with external agencies. Because we trade around the clock, you may also be required to provide out of hours support on occasion.

This role is suited for somebody who has meaningful experience of commercial web development (ideally a year or two), but who is looking for an opportunity to work in a modern and dynamic environment where they can grow and find their voice.

About you

With this being a junior role, you won’t be an expert in everything and will no doubt have plenty to learn. However, we fully expect that you will at least be competent in finding your way around an ASP.NET website’s codebase and making day to day changes. What you do lack in knowledge, you make up for in passion for software development and a desire to learn and grow. Whilst you will be given support and mentoring to advance your knowledge and develop your skills, you will also be self-motivated, happy to hit Google or StackOverflow when you need to, and be able to absorb and apply new concepts quickly.

You will have a logical mind and good attention to detail and whilst you won’t necessarily be a designer, ideally you will have a creative spark, not afraid to open Photoshop when necessary, and you’ll care about every pixel.

As a good communicator, you’ll be keen to get involved in discussions and arguments and express your own views. Whenever you see room for improvement you won’t be afraid to speak up, and you’ll readily ask questions if you’re not sure about something.

You will have your ear to the ground of the web development communities, keeping abreast of the latest news and views from the worlds of .NET, JavaScript and HTML5.
